Tom carves all types of items and has a fun time doing it. He even
incorporates his sense of humor into his work at times. Once when his mother was
having heart surgery one of the doctors asked Tom to carve him a heart so he could
use it to show to his clients. Tom said he would but his sense of humor jumped at the chance.
Tom presented the Doctor with the carved heart a few weeks later and what the doctor saw made him
laugh. There on the heart was a balloon to represent balloon surgery, a roll of tissue to show
the fatty tissue on the heart, two tacks had been placed on it to show a heart-a-tack, a bridge
shows where the heart had a bypass done, two veins were placed side by side to show
veryclose veins (vericose veins), a scorched area shows heart burn and a bandage has been placed
over a crack where the heart has suffered being broken. Both Tom and the doctor had a good laugh and Tom
then presented the actual heart he had been asked to carve but the Doctor liked the broken heart so much that to
this day it is the one that sits on his desk so he can show it to clients. Below are the two
hearts Tom carved.
